What is a “validated” domain?

Due to the ever changing nature of the web, domains that exist in our data sources may not actually be a valid domain any more. To validate this, we test all possible domains we collect to ensure that they have NS records set. Whilst some domains may or may not then have other records, we measure “valid” on the basis of NS records existing, which is the minimum requirement for a domain to be useful.
